Cumbia Para Marisa

The sun goes down the moon comes up, the clouds are moving
Around the corner comes the sound, the band is tuning
She pins into her raven hair a blossomed flower
While on the other side of town he checks the hour

Back at the club the band begins to play it’s first tune
The lights went down and eyes swept round the partly filled room
He drove on smiling as he walked within his history
Stopped at a light she dared the night for all it’s mystery

The club they entered from an opposite direction
And each began their separate way of club inspection
The symbols clashed their eyes were lashed into each other
When both their gaze cut through the haze and felt a shudder

He throws a smile she waits a moment then returns one
He quickly stands and to the band calls for a new one
He’s by her side offers his hand and says may I please you
She gives him hers, they dance in curves, her name Marisa

And every night it seems this way
Two couples come from far away
And though they may have never met
Like something from a chemistry set
Two eyes collide and become fixed
Two smiles entwine and become mixed
And if they choose to follow fate
They dance until it’s late

Now many nights they can be seen around there dancing
To see them is to know the meaning of romancing
Like courting birds the coo their way round the room yea
Exotic rhythms of this dance they call the Cumbia

The sun goes down the moon comes up, the clouds are moving
Around the corner comes the sound, the band is tuning
